Jason Mraz
We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things
Jason Mraz's breakthrough 2002 hit, "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)" established him as a funnier, funkier version of John Mayer. His brand new CD, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things, is yet another example of how the recording industry is changing. Prior to releasing the album this Tuesday, Jason has trickled out stripped down versions of the new songs on three separate EP’s, all released in monthly installments. The recording sessions for the new album were also documented on the YouTube series “Crazy Man’s Juju.” Watch a session here. The album’s first single “I’m Yours” was chosen due to overwhelming response from his fan base through his website. Tell us your favorite song as we spin the whole album today!
For an artist who is so well-known for his clever, inspired way with words, it should come as no surprise that many of the songs for We Sing… were born from a songwriting game he plays with a number of other artists, including Texas-based songwriter Bob Schneider. “Bob gives us a topic or a phrase and we have to turn that into a song and email it to everyone,” explained Mraz. “Coyotes,” “Butterfly,” and “Lucky” all sprung to life after starting from songwriting challenges.
