This book was born of two equal loves: my love for music and my love for Colorado.  Three decades ago, I was a young freelance writer and Denver was still regarded as a cowtown nestled in the Rocky Mountains.  It was a high-country retreat back then, an outpost of ski bums and nature lovers, oil tycoons, cowboys, and mountain men.  It was the birthplace of Coors beer and home to a heck of a good rodeo.  But on the national music radar screen, the city was but a blip that didn’t reap the consideration of most Americans.  But all that has changed, Colorado Rocks! sketches the then-and-now picture of the Rocky Mountain region from my view – the window of music.
